Passport Expiry / Visa Question UK to Spain?

Hello All, My Fiancees UK Passport expires at the end of May and we are due to get Married in September. She'd rather wait until her name changes before renewing her passport, however, we'd like to go to Spain for a week end of June. Is there any way she can travel without a passport or anything i can do to get her a temporary visa etc ? Many Thanks.
