PLEASE HELP! IM SCARED?

im using this moisturizer called ( cetaphil ) which is oil-free, for my faceeeee!!! and today in the morning i applied ALOT of it on my face, then after a while i felt my whole face was STICKY :S could it be because i applied alot? and is it true too much moisturizzer can clog the pores? before when i used to apply cetaphil it never occured that my face turned stickyy.. how come its sticky now? i checked the expiry date and there was nothing wrong with it..
